PETALING JAYA: An elderly man escaped death when the car he was driving plunged from the third-floor parking bay of an apartment complex in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Cheras police chief Aidil Bolhassan said the incident occurred at about 2.45pm when the 78-year-old man was attempting to park his car, Bernama reported.
The man is believed to have accidentally stepped on the accelerator, crashing his vehicle into a wall on level 3A. The impact caused the wall to collapse, which led to the car plummeting to the ground.
“The elderly driver was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries and is receiving treatment at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz,” said Aidil.
The area was immediately sealed off for repairs by the management, he said in a statement.
