SINGAPORE - If New Zealander Robert Stephan Dahlberg who jumped bail last year does not surrender soon, he may find his mugshot on Interpol's wanted list and cops worldwide on his tail.

The options broker was supposed to return to Singapore from an overseas trip and surrender his passport to the Singapore police on Aug 1, but failed to do so.

Five months on, his whereabouts remain unknown.

The Straits Times (ST) reported today that Singapore Police Force may enlist the help of Interpol to track down Dalberg.

The 34-year-old was charged in July last year for his alleged involvement in a brawl at Suntec City almost two years ago.

He was granted bail of $25,000 and given permission to travel to London and Hong Kong from July 11 to 29.

However, he failed to turn up in court later and a warrant of arrest was issued against him on Sept 12.

Dalberg's father, Bill, was quoted in the New Zealand Herald recently as saying he did not think his son would be returning to Singapore.

Defending his son, he said that Dahlberg was "in the wrong place, at the wrong time, in the wrong country".

Dahlberg and his two friends, Australian Nathan Robert Miller, 35, and Briton Robert James Springall, 24, were believed to have been drunk in the early hours of April 11, 2010 when they allegedly abused two taxi drivers and two passengers.

Dahlberg is accused of causing hurt to businessman Laurence Wong Seong, 38, in a rash act.

He is also alleged to have pushed another man, Paul Louis Liew Kai Ming, 26, causing him to hit his face against a pillar.

Mr Liew is said to have fractured his nasal bone and suffered a 4cm cut on his forehead.

After that, Dahlberg and his friends then hijacked the taxi and crashed it.

Mr Wong and Mr Liew, together with Mr Wong's 26-year-old girlfriend, had come out of Balaclava pub, then at Suntec City, to be picked up by cabby Tay Gek Heng, 45, a friend of Mr Wong's.

The cases involving Springall and Miller have been adjourned to next Wednesday.

What to do? A MP once said we are lesser mortals what :( I bet with u if its 1 of those PAP lap dogs sons kana like that they will chase these Red Hair dogs to the ends of hell to get them back for judgement.

Re: Kiwi tink he can play punk with our mighty SPF find himself on Interpol's wanted

Interpol will bo chap this small private matter.

Re: Kiwi tink he can play punk with our mighty SPF find himself on Interpol's wanted

Hey seriously, will Interpol really help? and is the PAP going to get the NZ Govt to extradite him?

Re: Kiwi tink he can play punk with our mighty SPF find himself on Interpol's wanted

Actually Interpol does not do anything. Its a community warning board and the protocol then requires NZ to commence the extradition. If the dickhead contest, it will go thru an extradition hearing. Interpol is like Ebay. In fact Ebay has more teeth. The protocol is not Interpol. Its a bilateral extradtion treaty that each country has to agree bilaterally.

Oh for GOD's sake, before we even talk about this bugger, what happens to that Romanian diplomat's case? Our police force are only good at licking pussy willows.

We shall see if the SPF will really hunt this chap down and bring him back to Spore.. In the first place its the own stupidity of the Authorities that allowed him permission to leave the country...

Interpol will bo chap this small private matter.

Interpol, whose full name is the International Criminal Police Organization – INTERPOL,[1] is an organization facilitating international police cooperation. It was established as the International Criminal Police Commission in 1923 and adopted its telegraphic address as its common name in 1956.
Its membership of 190 countries provides finance of around €59 million through annual contributions. The organization's headquarters is in Lyon, France. It is the second largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations, in terms of number of member states.
Its current Secretary-General is Ronald Noble, a former United States Under Secretary of the Treasury for Enforcement. Its current President is Singapore's Senior Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and former Commissioner of Police Khoo Boon Hui; the President before that, Jackie Selebi, National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, held his term from 2004 till his resignation on 13 January 2008, after which he was charged in South Africa on three counts of corruption and one of defeating the course of justice, and replaced by Arturo Herrera Verdugo, current National Commissioner of Investigations Police of Chile and former vice president for the American Zone, who remained acting president until the organization meeting in October 2008.[2]
In order to maintain as politically neutral a role as possible, Interpol's constitution forbids it to undertake any interventions or activities of a political, military, religious, or racial nature.[3] Its work focuses primarily on public safety, terrorism, organized crime, crimes against humanity, environmental crime, genocide, war crimes, piracy, illicit drug production, drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, human trafficking, money laundering, child pornography, white-collar crime, computer crime, intellectual property crime and corruption.

I hope govt can understand the frustrations whenever Foreign bully are being given lenient punishment or restriction following their misdeed. Our people got bully and yet we allow them to post bail and leave the country easily? That diplomats case is one big disappointment and this yet another .

Can we be stricter to them ,just like how we would dealt with an ordinary Singaporean?

Singaporeans are ignorant

KBH is a joke! Still don't understand how he ended up as CP. Even harder to understand how he lasted so long as CP.

Most puzzling is, after 37 yrs of faithful service, how come can't be made PS? Why must the post of Snr DS be specially created for him? I don't recall anyone holding this position in the civil service.

Make this comparison. Leo Yip made it to PS in his early 40s. Aubeck Kam made it to DS in his late 30s. And we have this mother of all clowns as a Snr DS at 55! If he made it as CP, surely they could have given him 2PS in MHA. Pay wise not much difference. Leo and Aubeck were OMSs. KBH president scholar yet this glaring discrepancy.

Scroobal: Can help explain? Was told LKY passed some unfavourable comments on this nut. But he lasted so long. Who was his 'mountain' shielding him? Thank you.

The funniest part is the "Snr".
Already deputy to the highest ranking civil servant in the ministry, must have senior some more.
Next time they should also have Snr Deputy Director and Snr Assistant Director in the civil service. :D

They already have these titles for years.

Goodness. So does the assistant director report to the snr assistant director or the deputy director?
They must be trying to play the old game of broken telephone here.
The directive from the top starts with "Casinos may have negative influences".
By the time it reaches the first year assistant director, it's "Let's have buses from the heartlands to the casinos".

Right. These titles have been around for quite sometime.

There could be many DDs in an entity. To better manage the expectation of an old bird and massage his ego, he is far more likely to be appointed SENIOR DD. Shiok sendiri achieved with no extras in salary or benefits.

SADs too. MFA plenty.

Extraterritorial rights to the white boys? Singapore is surely deserving of the title of modern day "Sick man of Asia!"
