Taiwanese high court auctioned a house to housing agents and during the handover they broke into the locked house to have a shock finding the ex-owner had turned in to a mummy in his bed, apparently suicide after having problem to pay up the housing loan more than a year ago.
The corpse is dried like a mummy, no smell at all. Next to the corpse there is a BBQ stove with wire mesh and burnt charcoal. Entire house & rooms were tightly sealed. This is a well know method of suicide in Taiwan known as charcoal burning.
After burning in a air tight sealed environment charcoal produce carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and exhausted all the oxygen inside. The suicide person will die painlessly. The corpse will be mummified and dry up after long time. It will not decay since there is no oxygen, no bacterial nor insect maggots can even live in that environment.
In the depression / recession we may be able to get some similar mummies in HDB flats.

房仲業者點交法拍屋，竟標到有乾屍的房子！嘉義市區的房仲業者和法院到大樓點交，進屋後居然發現，原來蔡姓屋主一年前已燒炭自殺，在主臥房裡成了一具木乃伊般的乾屍，但奇怪的是，住同樓層的鄰居和大樓管理員都沒聞到異味，直到法院點交才被發現。
嘉義地方法院事務官會同警方人員，來到嘉義市區的某棟大樓14樓，由於有房仲業者標得法拍屋，打算要進行執行點交作業，卻沒想到請來鎖匠破門而入後，聞到陣陣惡臭，並在凌亂的主臥室裡發現一具趴在床上的屍體，旁邊還留有烤肉的火爐和鐵絲網，讓到場人員全嚇了一跳。
大樓管理員表示，蔡姓屋主自殺應該是經濟問題，而且他與家屬都沒聯絡，死了當然沒人知道。據了解，警方調查後發現，蔡姓屋主可能因為繳不出房貸才會走上絕路，在一年多前燒炭自殺，而且還在燒炭前反鎖大門，陳屍的主臥室密不通風，屍體才會呈現木乃伊般乾屍狀。
只是這樣的房屋讓房仲業者標到了，一般也很難處理。房仲業者說，銷售這種房屋很麻煩，屋主住進去心裡都會毛毛的，但正常來說，他們會告知消費者，因為若未告知，以後勢必會造成買賣糾紛。
