Keep it crisp for bite

WHEN it comes to the crunch, instant noodles are a safer bet than men.

There is no concrete evidence, (it may just be an old wives' tale), to prove that eating instant noodles too often can cause hair loss.

But a series of bad dates can make you tear your own hair out.

Granted, a sedate Friday night dinner of instant noodles in front of the telly is not exactly exciting.

But you can always spice things up with that tiny packet of seasoning.

Compare this with a dull date who is blander than plain boiled noodles.

Sprinkling salt and pepper over his head, no matter how tempting, will not add flavour to the insipid conversation.

It is an option though, if you want a quick end to a dreary date.

In truth, good things don't often come pre-mixed in a bag.

Nutrition and romance require some measure of patience and effort.

Why settle for flaccid noodles or languid men? Deep fry your noodles.

Turn up the heat. Just don't burn your dates into a crisp.

Crispy noodles with seafood

INGREDIENTS
50g prawns, shelled and deveined
50g fish, sliced
50g squid, sliced
50g pork, sliced
8g ginger, sliced
1 clove of garlic, sliced
1 packet of poh chai mee
Spring onion for garnish
Cornflour mixture (Dissolve 2 tsp cornflour with one rice bowl of water.)
Oil for frying

Seasoning
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp fish sauce
1 tsp light soya sauce
1 tsp Chinese rice wine
Dash of white pepper

METHOD
1. Heat enough oil in wok to deep fry noodles for 2 minutes.
2.Drain and set aside.
3. Heat 2 tbsp of oil. Fry ginger and garlic.
4.Add pork, followed by squid, fish and prawns.
5. Add seasoning. Once prawns are almost cooked, add the cornflour mixture. When sauce starts to bubble, pour seafood mixture over the deep-fried noodles. Serve.
