The French-made vessel, the first of two Scorpene-class diesel-electric submarines ordered by the Malaysian Navy, made a call at Port Klang for a welcome ceremony on its maiden voyage from Toulon in France to Sepanggar in East Malaysia. The submarine is named after the country's first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman.
