Singapore — From July 1, training provider Kaplan Professional will be suspended from conducting Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) courses for one year, after “serious lapses” uncovered by audit checks.

In a press release on Tuesday (June 11), SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) said that apart from suspending Kaplan Professional’s status as an approved training organisation, it will revoke the accreditation and stop funding for all of the training provider’s WSQ courses over the same period.

Responding to media queries, Associate Professor Rhys Johnson — who is the chief operating officer and provost of Kaplan Singapore — said the audit by SSG and Kaplan Professional’s own subsequent review had found that “several trainers adopted assessment practices that were not in compliance with SSG’s standards”.

“We are disappointed that such instances occurred despite a rigorous programme implemented over past months aimed at ensuring such non-compliance could not occur for WSQ courses,” he said. “We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience this may cause impacted learners.”

The training provider is “putting in place a plan to facilitate any necessary transition arrangements” to ensure that those affected can continue their training, he added.

SSG said Kaplan Professional is expected to finish teaching learners who were enrolled in its WSQ courses slated for completion by June 30. For courses which were scheduled to start after that, Kaplan Professional is required to place them with other approved training organisations to “minimise disruption in their learning”.

In December last year, Kaplan Professional was suspended from delivering courses under the Leadership and People Management WSQ framework for six months, SSG noted.

In March, the government agency conducted further investigations and audit checks into the training provider’s delivery of other WSQ courses.

SSG stressed that it “takes a serious view of any individual, training provider or organisation which does not adhere to our guidelines for WSQ delivery, and will not hesitate to act against those who contravene our guidelines”.

“This is necessary to maintain the quality of WSQ courses,” it added.

Assoc Prof Johnson reiterated that the suspension affects only the WSQ courses at Kaplan Professional. “All other courses will operate as per normal and will continue to be taught to the stringent standards Kaplan and its partners expect,” he said.

KNN they should force the company to change the name of Kaplan Professionals to Kaplan Unprofessionals or Kumlan Professionals KNN

This would not have happened if Kaplan boss volunteer at PA.

Even for bachelor degrees and masters courses offered by kaplan, if you are willing to pay a little more, your course consultant can get you more exemptions from their affiliated universities for a fast-track graduations. They are also able to get overseas lecturers are here to share with you exam questions.

Therefore for distance-learning degrees, can consider UOL(tougher) or Heriott-Watt (easier) if you want the real recognition.

How do I go about asking for such lobang like paying more money to get more exemption and complete my degree in no time. Maybe can consider a Masters if they find the degree is too short.
