A STOMPer was frustrated after hearing sarcastic remarks about the amount of money he brought back in his donation tin. He says:

"I'm a Sec 4 student. I've recently done a flag day for the elderly for a day rehab centre.

"When I got the tin to ask around for donations at Dhoby Ghaut, I started off with a feeling of contribution to the society.

"Who knows, after five hours of 'begging' from people I only managed to fill up a quarter of the tin as there were too many schools participating.

"Besides that, while I was at the collection centre returning the tin, I was told by the person-in-charge of collecting that I would get a bad remark due to not being able to fill up the tin.

"And also, she sarcastically made a comment, 'The amount you have collected is not even enough to cover the tin cost.'

"Not even a word of appreciation was said.

"I'm not the only student who experienced this. There were many others too.

"I seriously hope that those people who are at the collection centre go back and have a serious reflection on what they said.

"we as students are trying to make an effort here, and there they are making sarcastic remarks by just simply opening their mouths for nothing.

"Hopefully the lady at the collection centre making that remark would change for the better or in long future no one will contribute as the service is taken for granted."
