KUALA LUMPUR
- An unemployed man had his left ear partially severed after he was attacked by 10 machete-wielding men at a flat in Salak South.

The 25-year-old man, believed to be from a rival gang, was cornered by the group while he was using a public phone at the car park of the Sri Johor flat here at about 6.20am on Tuesday.

City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the victim lodged a police report at around 8.14am that day.

"While he was on the phone, 10 men armed with machetes alighted from two cars and attacked him," he told a press conference at the city police headquarters yesterday.

He said the man suffered injuries to his head and his left ear was partially severed.

"He was sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre where he received 158 stitches on his ear," he said,

DCP Mohmad said the man had a prior record for gang-related activities.

"He has identified six of the men who attacked him," he said, adding that the police were looking for Satiakumar, 24, Thanasegaran Elango, 27, Ragesh Rengasamy, 26, Thana Balan Naidu Subramaniam, 24, Krishnan Rajendran, 35, and Thanasegaran Singh, 27.

The police have classified the case under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.

Those with information on the whereabouts of the men should call 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.
