SERI KEMBANGAN (Selangor) — A fatal shooting in front of SK Sri Serdang on Thursday (March 1) has shaken the community.
The incident which left one parent dead and another injured took place at the school bus stop at 5:45pm, mere minutes before the final school bell rang for the day.
A small business owner who wished to be known only as Ms Adnoor said she heard five pops which she thought to be firecrackers at first.
“The victim was sitting on the bench waiting for the afternoon session to end. It was sudden as all I heard was pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. I thought it was just firecrackers until I saw the assailant holding the gun.
“I quickly ducked for cover in a small corner beside the bus stop. The assailant then ran off to his accomplice on a motorcycle which was parked slightly further up from the bus stop,” she said.
A member of the school staff said, “It was mere minutes before the school bell rang. The bus stop is usually surrounded by a sea of kids once school is over. I dare not think what would have happened if the shooting took place then.
“Is no place safe at all if they are so brazen to conduct such a heinous crime in front of a primary school?”'
A worried parent who wished to be known as Mr Rahim said he reached the school minutes after the shooting.
“Some were just frozen in place while others seemed confused. I did not take any chances and as soon as I saw my child, I hurried him to the car and rushed off. I did not want him to see the body on the ground.
“To be honest I do not know how to explain to him how such a violent act happened in front of his school.
“But I was relieved to hear nothing untoward happened to the other children... I still don't feel good knowing that there are people who would do such a thing in front of a school,” he said. THE MALAY MAIL ONLINE
