PUTRAJAYA: Former Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) chief Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid has arrived at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court.
The 61-year old was seen wearing an orange Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) lock-up shirt and a purple scarf as she was escorted by two MACC officers while in handcuffs.
It was reported that she was arrested by the MACC yesterday for allegedly misappropriating election funds.
She was arrested after she had her statement recorded at the MACC headquarters at 4.15pm.
The New Straits Times reported yesterday that investigators took Hasanah into custody to assist in probes into the RM49 million allegedly siphoned from the government coffers.
She is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 for abuse of power for gratification.
Police had on Monday arrested Hasanah’s deputy, along with six others from the same office, in relation to the missing millions.
They are administrative and diplomatic services (PTD) officers between Grade 44 and 48.
The men, aged between 34 and 49, were arrested by the MACC between 11.30am and 10pm on Monday.
