While e-hailing drivers usually follow the destination and route given whenever they fetch a customer, they still reserve the right not to adhere to certain demands made by the customer if it’s out of the way.
A woman was recently caught on film berating and assaulting a female Grab driver who refused to stop by a petrol station to let her daughter buy some stuff halfway into the trip.
Told Grab driver to stop by petrol station, gets rejected
The incident was brought to light in a series of videos posted to the Facebook group 我是美里人 yesterday (July 9).According to the caption, the woman had called a Grab ride for herself and her daughter to go home. Halfway into the trip, the woman instructed the driver to stop by a petrol station and let her daughter purchase some items.
However, the driver declined to do so and fetched the woman and her daughter all the way to their home, much to the woman’s anger.

In one of the clips, the woman questioned the driver loudly over not stopping by a petrol station nearby. When the driver denied that there was a one, the woman yelled at the top of her lungs and said that she didn’t follow the route given by her.She also demanded that the driver fetch her to the petrol station, shouting, “I told you to take that route but why didn’t you do so? I’m the customer and you’re the driver!”
Wanting to rid herself of the woman, the Grab driver told the woman to pay RM10 for the trip but the woman refused and said she wouldn’t pay until she was taken to the petrol station.Realising that the woman wasn’t going to relent, the Grab driver told her that she didn’t need to pay and told her to get down from the car.
In the second clip, the woman is seen charging towards the Grab driver who was filming her and attempted to smack the phone right out of her hands. A loud thud could also be heard in the background, where the driver was allegedly slapped by the woman as claimed in the post’s caption.
As for the third and final video, it showed the woman arguing with a man who tried to intervene on the driver’s behalf. However, she kept insisting that the petrol station was along the way.
Netizens condemn woman’s behavior
The woman’s outrageous behavior was roundly criticised by netizens, who slammed her for behaving aggressively towards the Grab driver and assaulting her.‘Complain (to) Grab. Let her be banned for life. Does she think hailing a Grab ride automatically means the driver is her personal driver? Crazy!’
‘If the woman had asked politely to be dropped off at the petrol station and offered to pay for the petrol fee, probably the driver would’ve helped her.’
Another suggested that the Grab driver lodge a police report over the incident.
