Japan's flu cases top 3,000

TOKYO - THE number of H1N1 flu cases in Japan topped 3,000 on Wednesday, up more than 1,000 from last week, the health ministry said.
The tally of A(H1N1) virus infections in Japan reached 3,122 by early Wednesday but most of the people who were infected have already recovered, it said. Japan has yet to report any deaths from the virus.
Separately 25 travellers have tested positive for the virus at airports, the ministry said.
The virus was first reported in Japan in early May and quickly spread through high schools in western cities before infecting the wider population. -- AFP
