Japanese cafe chain Mister Donut enters Singapore

Mister Donut, the Japanese doughnut chain, is set to launch in Singapore this month, opening its first store at Bishan’s Junction 8 mall.
Known for its signature Pon de Ring doughnut, Mister Donut is making its market debut through a franchise agreement with local firm RE&S Enterprises, which operates other Japanese chains, including Ichiban Boshi, Shimbashi Soba, and Kuriya Dining.
Mister Donut Singapore’s first store is set to open its doors to the public on May 21. According to The Straits Times, RE&S plans to roll out at least nine locations during the next three years, including large-scale cafe concepts.
Prior to the launch, the Singaporean company opened a Mister Donut pop-up store for a month last year to test the market.
Mister Donut was founded in the US in 1956 by Harry Winoukur after he broke his partnership with the founder of Dunkin’ Donuts, Bill Rosenberg. The chain gained popularity when it was established in Japan in 1971. It now has more than 900 locations across the country and has a presence in Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
