Japan Warship Collides With Commercial Vessel

TOKYO (AP) -- A Japanese navy destroyer has collided with a commercial vessel off southern Japan, starting fires on both ships and injuring one crew member, defense officials said Tuesday.

The destroyer JS Kurama collided with the South Korean container ship Carina Star on Tuesday night in the Kanmon Strait near the southern main island of Kyushu and both were engulfed in flames, a defense ministry spokesman said on condition of anonymity, citing protocol.

One Kurama crew member was slightly injured, the official said.

Public broadcaster NHK said none of the South Korean ship's crew members were injured. It also said the Japanese ship's bow was damaged.

TV footage showed orange flames rising up from the vessels in the dark. The collision site is about 530 miles (850 kilometers) southwest of Tokyo, between Kyusu and the western end of the Honshu main island.

The Kurama was on its way to its home port of Sasebo on Kyushu after serving as the flagship for the country's triennial fleet review Sunday at the port of Yokosuka.

Last year, a collision between a destroyer and a tuna trawler off the coast of Chiba, near Tokyo, left two fishermen dead. That accident triggered an uproar in Japan, where many people harbor pacifist sentiments and remain sensitive to anything related to the military.

Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa quickly held a news conference and apologized for the accident.

"We deeply apologize to the people for causing concerns," he said. "We will quickly find out what caused the accident."

Kitazawa said the government has set up a taskforce to investigate the collision.

I think RSN is worst. Because Japs navy had accident in the dark night at sea, RSS COURAGEOUS fucked up in broad day light right at disputed island of Batu Puteh aka Roti Prata Rock , & RSS COURAGEOUS violated the safety very seriuosly by making a wrongful U-turn into WRONG DIRECTION OF SHIPPING LANE to hit a cargo ship.


I suggest all the opposition parties to study the following to make election issue against famiLEE LEEgime during coming GE, regarding FT issue.

1. famiLEE LEEgime make Singaporean Citizens serve NS & die often at trainings, not FTs instead, and then give Citizen's jobs to FTs.
2. Japs is 100% the opposite of famiLEE LEEgime, in Japan FTs serve the military as Japs sodiers to die protecting Japs citizens, the citizens job are very very protected from FTs.

The only draw back in Jap for their citizens is they are making too many robots to take away their workers' jobs , in famiLEE LEEgime the only robots are the 80 MPs in the parLEEment that raise hands to vote according to LKy old dog & Ass Loong's wills, Hougang & Potong Pasir are only exceptions. 84-2-2=80 minus Bukit Batoks' Ong Chit Chung =79 robots left working.:p

famiLEE LEEgime's robot could as some limited questions in parLEEment, but they all voted according to Party Whip heldby famiLEE's control, and like robotic voting machine they will vote for famiLEE. Only time when famiLEE's robot stop working is when they died like Bukit Batoks' Ong, or when the got burnt like BBQ Seng of Yio Chu Kang. That's where Jap'r robot is one up and famiLEE should import Japs robot (NOT Japs FTs) to replace PAp MPs.

Japanese citizens don't serve NS, their military hired mostly foreigners, while officers and commanders are Japanese regulars. Their military FTs came from all over the world mostly Asia. If you searched Internet, there will be sufficient info of it.

SAF do have some FTs, but they are offered citizenship ASAP and they are treated even better than NS men. This is true since a long long time back, in the 80s when I was in NS, my units got so many Malaysian FT regulars.
