A bartender was jailed a week and ordered to pay $2,000 in compensation to his wife for breaking her nose by a district court on Wednesday. Remie Mohamed Sanie, 31, had assaulted her after finding incriminating pictures on her digital camera.
Court papers state that Ms Adelinadia Nurafni Bakri, 30, had returned from Bintan, Indonesia, at 11pm in July 2010 and was asleep in the bedroom. The couple were then staying with her friend in a flat in Woodlands Street.
Remie decided to check her camera to see who she went with. He became furious as many of the photographs showed his wife with her boyfriend. He burst into the bedroom and threw the camera at her. While she was still in bed, he slapped her. She struggled and he headbutted her face causing her nose to bleed.
A medical report from Parkway East Hospital stated that she had sustained a nose fracture. She also suffered a 1cm cut on her nose bridge and tenderness on the head and right hand.
