As with every political change, the ones that Sg must go through is wrought with dangers and hazards that the country has never seen before.
We never had to make the transition because arguably LKY and to some extent, GCT made life easy and good. So it was easy for citizens to continue voting fir PAP.
However for the past 15 years we have seen how progressively the 3rd and 4th generation has slipped. Not only do they have no new ideas to take us forward, they have adamantly stuck to their the past practise of turning the screw ever harder on their own electorate. eg CECA, which in any normal democracy would have removed the incumbent for selling away the citizen's right to the first bite of employment opportunity.
Singaporeans intuitively recognise things are getting from bad to worse. Though some may be delusional in insisting that things are better, the evidence shows otherwise.
Many have this fear of a sudden change in government. Herein lies the conundrum. Fear.
But to not act will just postpone the inevitable, that your life will get harder as your costs of living will start to skyrocket unless change is initiated.
This is where Singaporeans must act now. We have to start to make a gradual change now so tat in the next few subsequent GEs, more opposition will be sitting in Parliament asking that pertinent questions and making the government accountable.
The hazard is to not change the status quo or have a sudden and drastic change 3 or 4 GEs later. Singapore may not survive then.
Be brave Singaporeans or forever be slaved into permanent subservience. You will lose your freedom and independence to vote.
