A 35-year-old man in China was refused entry by his wife for not bringing enough money home for the Lunar New Year celebration, reported Nanyang Siang Pau. His wife even said she would divorce him after the holiday break.
The construction worker, known as Ah Chiang, said he used to hand over all his salary to his wife every time he returned to their home in Jiangsu, China.
Late last year, however, his employer suffered losses and he received only RMB2,000 (RM930) before returning home on Jan 31. On learning he only had that much, his wife did not let him enter the house and scolded him.
“How (are we supposed) to sustain this family with that little money? “(We) can’t go on like this anymore. I want a divorce, (we) will file the papers after Chinese New Year,” she was reported as saying.
