I find it amusing that Scroobal who is a well-known PAP provocateur in the old SBF would take such a sudden interest in wayangparty.com
wayangparty.com has been around for a year and nobody pays much attention to it. In fact, it was never taken seriously and was ridiculed as a "no business" blog.
All this started to change when its traffic shoot up 700% in the span of two months. From a traffic ranking of 23,000 in September to 3351 yesterday, becoming the 2nd most influential socio-political blog in Singapore after TOC.
The MSM began to take notice of wayangparty and has been trying desperately hard to tease its writers out into public by offering to make them 'celebrity bloggers'.
Why did Scroobal only start to attack wayangparty.com now especially after there were signs that wayangparty.com has "made up" with TOC ?
I am not in a position to reveal more details. From what I know, there are some backroom discussions going on.
If TOC and wayangparty.com have some common ground to work on, I am sure they will work something out together. If not, then it's back to the present status quo.
The greatest fear of the PAP is for the new media to become a challenge to the mainstream media.
TOC, Tan Kin Lian and wayangparty.com together have a daily combined traffic high enough to challenge TODAY, with the lowest online traffic of all the major papers.
