Is there a difference in terms of quality/efficacy between NTUC housebrand pine disinfectant and Dettol? If not, why is Dettol so expensive???

My disinfectant has run out today. Finally.

So I went to NTUC to get a new 5litre supply. If I remember correctly, long before Covid19, Dettol 5litres cost no more than 20 plus dollars.

It's now almost $50!!!!

Isn't Dettol profiteering???

I am boycotting it. Bought the NTUC housebrand instead.

I wonder if there's any difference in terms of efficacy and quality.

NTUC budget brand 5 litres $6.55

Lady, you're starting to sound like a fruitcake to me, based on the threads you've started lately. Is this really so important to warrant a thread? If it is, then may I suggest google?

just drip some vinegar, sprinkle some baking soda, and squeeze a lemon into pail of water will do. don’t need fancy pine-sol nor dettol.

pine-based cleaning products don’t contain pine oil anymore as pine oil is becumming rare and sextremely sexpensive to extract as the oil cums from coniferous timber. when they label “pine”, it’s a tinge of artificial pine fragrance to fake the pine smell. don’t be fooled.

Ei stupid.dettol does not have a floor cleanee. You are buying 5 litre handwash

In Malaysia, supermarkets such as AEON and Tesco also have their own housebrand products. They are priced competitively.

The difference is: NTUC Fairprice indulges in anticompetitive practices, and some of your taxpayer money might be involved in it. After all, it's a 'co-operative'... no conflict of interests.

I almost wanted to start a thread to ask for recommendation for the best toilet paper. The kind that with a single swipe, all the sai will be caught by it.

it's ok lah. give her a break. because there's a dearth of women on this site, men should close an eye and allow women to start 69 threads to men's 6.9 threads. otherwise, too much sword fighting, especially against dicks like tanwahtiu who can start 69 threads in 6.9 minutes.

Just buy and use what you feel is right to you. Don't need to be a sucker to big brands or brand loyalty. If the house brands can do the job just as well as the big brands, then just go for it.

Must check the chemical composition to be fair. For example I see 2 brands of hand sanitizer. More expensive one has 70% alcohol, but cheaper one only 60%. Then I read that it takes a minimum of 70% alcohol content to be able to disinfect effectively.

Soap and water is enough to kill the virus so they said.

soon she will start a thread to ask if dettol can be used to wash jibye
haaaa

Dettol can be used to keep your CB clean, especially on period days.
This is taken from the official Dettol website, I am not making this up.

https://www.dettol.co.in/en/persona...rself-clean-and-comfortable-during-those-days

Keep the pubic area clean. Menstrual periods can be messy. It does not help if you have pubic hair that traps some of the blood as it flows out of the body. Besides, it can cause infections with inadequate daily cleaning. Before your period begins, clip your pubic hair as close to the skin as possible. When your period starts, make sure to take a wash twice a day with Dettol antiseptic liquid mixed in warm water. Dry out the area with clean tissue paper, finishing off with absorbent talcum powder to prevent chafing and rashes.
