George Yeo – Foreign Minister, ex- General, high flier (literally and figuratively, FM means a real high flier) How much time does he put in for Aljuneid as FM? He can’t even control his officials – Wikileaks. You think our neighbours and other countries FMs/officials will be very sad to see him go, after that fiasco? MM’s still thinks everyone likes him and is team, because of the many invitations they get. I think the countries that really like him/his team are Kazakhstan, China, India, Iran, Libya, DPRK, HK, Burma and very few others. George Yeo won’t be missed by our immediate neighbours malaysia, Thailand.
Lim Hwee Hua – Minister of nothing (PMO) Only around to make up the numbers gender-wise, that’s why she leapt to Tin’s defense on the gender issue, because nobody else raised it. People were only concerned on her youth, connections and inexperience, but Minister Lee being the self proclaimed ‘Women’s Minister ‘, has to say it was
gender related. I think she is also 2nd Minister for Transport/Finance, nothing to crow about looking at our transport debacle and how silent and useless the Transport Minister in these elections. As for Finance, do you think Tharman, LHL (before him), MAS Chairman, Ho Ching and MM, actually really cares what she thinks or has to say, if any, about Finance?
Zainul Abidin Rasheed – The next Speaker, if he can garner Malay votes for the PAP, that’s the only reason, he’s getting the promotion. As Speaker, Aljuneid residents automatically lose 1 voice in Parliament (not that they actually have 1 with the PAP team). Speakers don’t debate, rarely vote, only preside over rubber-stamping, get a state car, house and a nice fat pay every month. Great choice to have as an MP according to MM. As MOS, he has traveled the globe like his boss and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Gaddafi’s son (who he invited for F1), Bahrain’s ruling family, Mubarak, Iran;s Ahmedinijad and others. As for helping the Malay community, just go and ask some Malay friends, how much he’s ‘done’ for them? But MM likes him, because he’s the kind of Malay who knows how to keep quiet. As Speaker, he’ll be even more quiet, seen only in parliament, but never heard.
Cynthia Phua – Wong Kan Seng’s ‘able’ manager at Toa Payoh Town Council for 9 years, before like many other ‘capable and carefully selected’ candidates, she was selected to become an MP in 2001. Has since served various positions of influence with NTUC, the ‘union that fights for Singapore workers rights’. Expect her to keep up the fight to ensure more FTs will selected to fill the ‘job crunch’ in Singapore. Expect her to continue to fight for salary adjustments for the common worker, eg; in 2001-3 the average hourly pay for service industry jobs like waiters and service staff was around $7 minimum, now thanks to our FTs, it’s back to 1990 figures of $5 an hour or lower. That’s minimum wage – NTUC style for you.
Ong Ye Kung – Not an unknown. A former PPS to LHL, CEO of Workforce Development Agency at 35, and now operating with Cynthia Phua at NTUC as Asst Sec Gen. A potential minister, MM has given confirmation. Given his sterling qualifications and connections, you can expect him to be a leading voice for Aljuneid residents, as far speaking up and fighting for the ordinary man. Years schooled as Lee Jr’s PPS, has polished his ability to speak up and not ‘group think’. Years at WDA and NTUC makes him an authority on job creation (we need more FTs) and workers rights (really minimum wages, longer retirement age).
