The PAP knows that even if LHL leads LKY, GCT, LBH and YI to contest against LTK, SL, CSM. PS and MF, the pap is likely to lose. So why did LHL publicly say that he wants the PAP to regain Aljunied?

My assessment is that LHL is playing counter psychology. He knows that it is almost impossible for the PAP to re-take Aljunied in 2016. But what LHL is truly afraid is that WP is very confident and decides to split up its Aljunied team and go for three GRCs, instead of concentrating its effort on Aljunied. It wants the strong team to remain only in Aljunied.

Can you imagine WP contesting GE 2016 with:

1. SL, PS and three other candidates in Aljunied GRC
2. CSM, MF and three other candidates in East Coast GRC
3. LTK, GG and three other candidates in Moulmein/Kallang GRC

That's a nightmare scenario for the PAP as it may lose at least three GRCs to WP in GE 2016.

So LHL is taking a gamble and prefers to lose Aljunied. That's why he is just bluffing and saying that he wants the PAP to seriously retake Aljunied. He wants WP to concentrate all the big guns on Aljunied so that the PAP can retain East Coast GRC and Moulmein/Kallang GRC and maintain the status quo.

Singaporeans must see through LHL's bluff and continue to stake big and hope that WP can spread out its main resources and try to win over more GRCs. Force the pap to fight on many fronts. Dont fight on PAP's term and just concentrate on Aljunied. Get the big guns to go for the weak GRCs. The pap has no resources to defend them and the mood is ripe to pluck the fruits.

So I hope WP just fight GE 2016 according to its assessment and plans and not according to what LHL says.

It is possible for WP to win three GRCs...NSP to win MP and Tampines GRCs, SPP to win TP/Bishan GRC and SDP to win Holland/BT Timah in 2016. And give the PAP a big fright at AMK and TP GRCs.

That will comatose the PAP and revive Singapore.

Defection & Disintegration is happening within the PAp since GE & PE2011. They are trying to prevent low moral from breaking up PAp into more than one party, and more defectors joining into Opposition Camp.

So they have to create the dreams and promise LOTS OF NEW CHANGES coming. So that their quitters will hold on from quitting and stay on for observation.

The PAp are starting to copy what we used to do such as carrying loud speakers to speak to the coffeeshop crowds.:p That is what Singaporeans are telling me.

It's good that PAP cadres are waking up and leaving the party

But the Oppostion Parties must be discerning and not take in ex PAP people too trustingly because these can be spies sent to create distrust and break up the Opposition party from within. They can create havoc and sow disharmony within the party

We will get a better idea come 2015/16. But to gun for more GRCs must be the ultimate goal.

A politician has to take calculated risks. The tide is turning quickly against the pap. The Opposition has to seize the opportunity in 2016. In 10years, the pap can scheme many things and the tide may not be favourable.

Whether Lee Hsien Loong or PAP is serious or not, we laymen would not know. It is definitely a show of intent though from Lee Junior and likewise, nobody knows what will happen during the course of five years. So far, the incumbent Aljunied team is doing fine, however, that doesn't mean Aljunied is a safe fortress for Workers Party and they can divide their Aljunied team to contest in different GRCs in the next election. This is not a computer game. I trust Low Thia Khiang and Co. are smart enough to make the best move.

Well, the PAP had a very strong team at Aljunied for GE2011. But the pap was still clobbered by the WP. So I dont agree that the WP can only win if the pap screw up.

the WP should not just be reacting to the pap. the WP can force the issue and the pap has to react.
Gone are the days when the pap is on the driving seat.

so it will be exciting next GE. many permutations and combinations

When PAP lost 3 seats in 91, GCT heavily expanded GRC and went into gerrymandering big time. LHL will do no less. Lacoste Lim is a distraction while they work out the gameplay. Lacoste lim is known for his poor political acumen but good with the lesser educated.

My guess is that he won't in 2016, becos he won't want to seem to be jumping every election.
But they will be able to put up a few strong teams everywhere, as their brand is getting stronger.
