65-year-old resident reveals why she cleans entire HDB block every week

A 65-year-old retiree, Mdm Feng Qing Rong, cleans up a Housing Board (HDB) block in Tampines about once every week.

Stomp contributor Bhuvana previously shared with Stomp about the lady who resides there and spares time to make sure all 11 floors of Block 454 Tampines Street 42 are clean.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, Shin Min Daily News visited the HDB block on Thursday (July 25) and interviewed Mdm Feng.

Mdm Feng expressed that she has always liked to be clean, so she decided to clean up the block to maintain the cleanliness of the area.

She said: "I've been living here for more than 20 years.

"I retired more than a year ago and that was when I managed to find spare time.
"I wash the block about once every week and take about an hour to clean all 11 floors."

Bhuvana also told Stomp that the Mdm Feng always moves their shoes away when she is washing the corridors.

Another resident, 70-year-old retiree Mr Lin, said in an interview that everyone is able to live more comfortably due to Mdm Feng's kind deed.

"She's using water from her home to wash the block. There were some cat faeces at the block before but Mdm Feng cleaned it all up by herself."

Netizens have come forward to commend Mdm Feng and one even expressed his envy for the residents of the HDB block.

He even said that he wished he could move over to live there.
