Habib Al-Halawi, head of the political wing of the Iranian-backed Shiite militia Asaib Ahl Al-Haq and leader of the Al-Sadiqoun bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, appeared on Al-Ahd TV (Iraq) on November 30, 2024. In the interview, Al-Halawi claimed that the armed groups in Syria were able to mobilize quickly against the Assad regime due to an arrangement between the U.S., Israel, and Turkey. He argued that these groups were not acting independently but were part of a broader effort to open a new front aimed at weakening the Iranian-led “Axis of Resistance.” Al-Halawi added, “Inshallah, we will kill the Americans like we killed this fly.”
Speaking before the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, Al-Halawi also discussed the recruitment of Iraqi volunteers to fight on behalf of the regime in Syria. He claimed that thousands of young Iraqis were motivated to volunteer for Jihad, inspired by the “pure blood” shed by figures like Hassan Nasrallah, Imad Mughniyeh, and Qassem Soleimani. Al-Halawi added: “We need, from time to time, more pure blood.”
Interviewer: "What enabled [the anti-regime forces] to advance so fast? From where did they get their uniforms, equipment, weapons? All this equipment... It is as if they were just waiting for the sign."
Habib Al-Halawi: "Have you forgotten about the Taliban? They fought for about 21 years, and then they overthrew the government overnight, right? There is an American-Israeli-Turkish arrangement, an agreement between them... The armed groups cannot act [on their own]. This is an agreement and an arrangement between countries, preparing to open a new front, in order to weaken the Axis of Resistance, because Israel does not view Syria, Lebanon, or Iraq separately. They all belong to the Axis, and today... Inshallah, we will kill the Americans like we killed this fly... It is only in order to frighten the region, fight, and weaken the forces of this axis.

"Thousands of young people joined, they want to go to Syria. Let them go. We did not ask for volunteers – people came of their own free will, asking to go to Syria or to Lebanon. What influenced them? The blood of sayyed Hassan [Nasrallah], the blood of Imad Mughniyeh, and the blood of Qasem Soleimani. Pure blood is the best way to draw people to Jihad. We need, from time to time, more pure blood."
