Iran is prepared to deploy ‘secret weapons’ against American warships, a military official in Tehran said, after the Pentagon sent three destroyers to the Persian Gulf amid a wave of increased tensions between the two states.
Without mincing words, General Morteza Qorbani, an adviser to Iran’s military command, cautioned that should Washington “commit the slightest stupidity, we will send these ships to the bottom of the sea along with their crew and planes.”
Iran, he promised, would do so “using two missiles or two new secret weapons.” He did not specify what type of “secret weapons” he was referring to.
The US earlier deployed three guided-missile destroyers, the USS McFaul, USS Gonzalez, USS Mason, to the Persian Gulf, with the last warship crossing the Strait of Hormuz this week. They joined the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, which has been cruising off the coast of Oman, near the Gulf, since early May.

The military buildup near Iranian waters coincided with the Pentagon announcing plans to send around 1,500 additional troops to Iraq, which borders Iran.
Although General Qorbani did not provide details of the weapons he mentioned, in recent months the nation has been showcasing its newest ships and submarines, as well as its naval firepower. In February, Tehran unveiled and successfully tested its new Hoveizeh long-range cruise missile, which is said to have a range of over 1,350 kilometers.
In the same month, Tehran launched the massive Velayat 97 naval drill, with maneuvers spanning from the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman to the northern Indian Ocean. During the drill, a midget Ghadir-class submarine fired an anti-ship cruise missile for the first time.

Relations between the US and Iran deteriorated dramatically after President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew America from the Iran nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA, and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran. The move was condemned by a number of nations, including Washington’s allies in Europe.
Meanwhile, in the US, dozens of retired top military brass and diplomats wrote an open letter to Trump, urging him to ditch the ‘stick’ approach and begin real talks with Iran. They warned that by failing to do so, the US risks not only making the situation in the Middle East worse, but also entering into “armed conflict at immense financial, human, and geopolitical cost.”

Don't border at all to listen to an Ang Moh opinion who believed in "new weapons" & "Air Superiority" etc.

US had total air superiority in Korean War & Vietnam & Afghanistan & Iraq with ISIS. NEVER WIN and lost face big time.

In 911 the George Bush Junior could only use his "Air Superiority" to shoot one airliner and dare not admit it. USA was stuck more than 10 day in TOTAL NO FLY ZONE NATIONWIDE!

Ang Moh don't know wars. Brains are too simple and stupid that is why primitive Asian ways to defeat Chow Ang Moh idiots works most perfectly!

Ang Moh Brains = SHIT! That is a golden rule! Applies UNIVERSALLY!

Persian survived war with the greeks, romans, nomads from the steppes, arabs and i am sure, will get through US intimidation.
Their jasmine rice with lamb kebabs are delicious and US army personnel are welcome to feast on it.
Their main problem under dynastic kings were succession as the brothers will feud for power. So the king will arrange for the younger brothers to be killed before he dies.

Asset
Iran should sink a US Naval ship right now. US doesn't have the assets to attack Iran now.
North Korea should launch missile strike at South Korea at the same time.
China should attack US assets in South China Sea.

US fighting three wars, that will be a sight.
Europe will not be involved this time.

DUBAI: The United States will respond with military force if its interests are attacked by Iran, the US Iran envoy said on Thursday as Arab leaders gathered in Saudi Arabia to discuss what they see as the threat from Tehran amid rising tensions.
But US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said US actions taken so far in the Gulf region, which include repositioning military assets, have had the "desired deterrent effect on the (Iranian) regime's risk calculations".

The US military has sent forces, including an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers, to the Middle East in a move that US officials said was made to counter "clear indications" of threats from Iran to American forces in the region.
Hook was speaking to reporters by phone ahead of emergency summits of Arab leaders in the Saudi city of Mecca due on Thursday to discuss drone strikes on oil installations in Saudi Arabia and attacks on four vessels, including two Saudi oil tankers, off the UAE coast earlier this month.
Tehran has denied involvement in either attack.
The US is pursuing what it calls a "maximum pressure campaign" of sanctions against Iran to reduce its revenue streams from oil and other economic activities, in an attempt to curb what it sees as Tehran's disruptive policies in the region.

Responding to a question about China and India importing Iranian oil and whether it was possible for them to keep importing small amounts, Hook said there would be no more exceptions granted to sanctions against Iran oil imports.
"There will be no more oil waivers granted," he said, adding that any oil imported by any country beyond waiver limits that ran from November last year to May, would be subject to sanctions.

MECCA: Saudi Arabia convened emergency Arab summits on Thursday (May 30) to deliver a strong message to Iran over regional security after recent attacks on Gulf oil assets, as American officials said a US military deployment had deterred Tehran.
Saudi King Salman told a Gulf Arab meeting, ahead of a separate Arab summit, that Iran's development of nuclear and missile capabilities and its threatening of global oil supplies posed a risk to regional and international security.

"It must be said that the absence of a severe and firm stance towards the subversive actions of the Iranian regime in the region caused it to go too far, as we see today," he said.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which have lobbied Washington to contain their foe, Shi'ite Muslim Iran, have said they want to avoid war after drone strikes on oil pumping stations in the kingdom and the sabotage of tankers off the UAE coast.
Riyadh accused Tehran of ordering the drone strikes, which were claimed by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group.
US national security adviser John Bolton said on Thursday that evidence of Iran's being behind the tanker attacks would be presented to the UN Security Council as early as next week.

Tehran denies any involvement.
"The kingdom is keen to preserve the stability and security of the region, to spare it the scourge of war and to realise peace and stability," King Salman said.
Tensions have risen between the United States and Iran after Washington quit a multinational nuclear deal with Iran, re-imposed sanctions and boosted its military presence in the Gulf.
Bolton has said that Iranian mines were "almost certainly" used in the tanker attacks, which he described as being connected to the strike on pumping stations on the kingdom's East-West pipeline and a rocket attack on Baghdad's Green Zone.
An Iranian official dismissed Bolton's remarks as "a ludicrous claim." The Islamic Republic has said it would defend itself against any military or economic aggression.
Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Tuesday the country was not allowed to pursue the development of nuclear weapons as it was banned by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s highest authority.
DETERRING IRAN
Bolton and the US special envoy for Iran, Brian Hook, told reporters on Thursday that a repositioning of US military assets in the region had succeeded in deterring Iran.
Bolton, speaking in London, said it would be a big mistake if Iran or its surrogates in the region attacked US interests. Hook told a news conference call that the United States would respond with military force if that happens.
Last week the Pentagon announced the deployment of 900 additional troops to the Middle East and extended the stay of another 600 service members, after speeding up deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group and sending bombers and additional Patriot missiles.
The United States and the UAE, which hosts a US air base, on Wednesday activated a defence cooperation agreement signed earlier this year.
Gulf states have a joint defence force under the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), but the alliance has been fractured by a boycott imposed on Qatar by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and non-GCC Egypt since mid-2017.
Qatari premier Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, whose country hosts the largest US military base in the region, attended the Gulf meeting, the most senior Qatari official to visit the kingdom since the embargo.
Iraq and Oman, which have good ties with Tehran and Washington, have said they are working to reduce tensions. Doha, which shares a giant gas field with Iran, has offered to help.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that Tehran wanted balanced ties with Gulf neighbours and had proposed signing a non-aggression pact with them.
