SMSes informing operationally ready national servicemen (NSmen) about the cancellation of IPPT, IPT and RT have apparently been sent out on Jan. 25, 2019. A screen shot by one NSman showed two SMSes put out and received in quick succession on Friday night, at 9.49pm.

The NSman confirmed that he was due to take his annual IPPT, also known as Individual Physical Proficiency Test, on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Khatib Camp. IPT stands for IPPT

Preparatory Training and RT stands for Remedial Training. The NSman, who was due to take his IPPT, also said he can no longer book a new IPPT slot online as a result. Sudden cancellation

The sudden cancellation of IPPT follows the death of a NSman, Aloysius Pang, on Jan. 23 in New Zealand, and an Army-wide safety timeout has been mandated.

All the NS slaves still doing IPPT, a word of advice from me: do some pull ups when you exercise, even though the new IPPT no longer requires you to do pull ups.

Otherwise your back will be weak, and it will cause a lot of suffering as you sit all day inside a car driving or at your desk. Your neck, shoulder and spine will all be affected.

Isn’t cancellation of IPPT an overkill? Similar to draconian actions taken in the aftermath of the LI riots when it was crystal clear the SPF screwed up badly?

SINGAPORE: All forms of strenuous activity have been temporarily cancelled as part of a safety timeout across the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) that was implemented in the wake of Aloysius Pang’s death, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said on Monday (Jan 28).

“All training ceases during the safety timeout,” MINDEF said in response to queries by Channel NewsAsia.

“A safety timeout, implemented, applies to all forms of strenuous physical activity, including the Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT), IPPT Preparatory Training (IPT) and Remedial Training (RT).”

It added that 5BX (five basic exercises), jogging, route marches and field training are also among the activities halted during the safety timeout.

Local actor Aloysius Pang died on Jan 24 after sustaining serious injuries during a SAF training exercise in New Zealand last week.

Following the incident, SAF commanders announced they were implementing a safety timeout as part of the lowering of training tempo as investigations are carried out.

According to the SAF, there is no stipulated length on how long the timeout will last.

“Each case is independent and implementation of safety timeout is dependent on the assessment of reviews of training and safety management plans,” MINDEF said.

The most recent safety timeout was implemented after the death of CFC Liu Kai.

This is as silly a move as you can think off-
imagine you have been training very hard for the coming IPPT and they cancel it-means all the effort wasted and have to semula again.
More people will slacken -potentially leading to more deaths.
IPPT has totally no connection to Aloysious Pang 's tragic death.
A more meaningful thing to do is to announce that all serving of howitzers, rocket systems, tracked vehicles, AFV's and APC's will only be carried out by regulars with the rank of ME1 and above.

If all exercises cancelled after deaths, shouldn't netizens encourage more to die? So then training will continue to be cancelled!

Please NSmen, die so your colleagues don't need to do IPPT!
