<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->Mumbai - One of the terrorists holed up in the Taj Mahal was on an internship as trainee chef in the hotel for the past 10 months.
The revelation came after the family of a trainee chef killed in the carnage revealed that the deceased had called them before dying and said he had been shot by his friend, Zeenews.com reported on Friday. The identity of the dead chef has not been released.
Indian Hotels, which runs the Taj Group of Hotels, has denied the involvement of any of its employees in the attacks.
But if the disclosure is proven right, it may mean that the gunmen, who went on a rampage since Wednesday, may have had accomplices within the hotel premises at the time.
It may also mean that the attack was meticulously planned, down to the minutest detail, for at least a year, Zeenews.com reported.
Earlier, Mumbai police had revealed that suspects had disclosed that two attackers had checked into the Taj Mahal Hotel four days prior to the carnage under false identities, the Hindustan Times said.
During the four days, the attackers had received a number of visitors who carried large bags, which may have been stuffed with arms and ammunition.
Besides, the commander of the Marine Commandos, who fought the gunmen inside the Taj Mahal, had said that the gunmen seemed well-informed about the hotel's layout.
'It's absolutely certain that these men surveyed the interiors of the hotel before the strike,' he said, according to The Times of India.
The terrorists knew beforehand the location of the systems room and had captured it early in the attack, he said. The room gave them access to transmissions of the various closed-circuit television cameras inside the hotel, providing them a clear view of all the alleys and lobbies of the hotel.
'They hurled grenades the moment commandos neared the systems room,' he said.
Earlier, a minister in Maharashtra state, of which Mumbai is the capital, had revealed that gunmen had set up 'control rooms' inside the hotel, Zeenews.com said.
