Despite Indonesia’s ambitions to grow its semiconductor capabilities, it has struggled to attract significant new investments or expansion plans from major global chip manufacturers. One exception is German firm Infineon Technologies, which announced in 2022 it would expand its back-end manufacturing operations at its existing facility in Batam.
To become more competitive in the semiconductor industry, analysts say Indonesia must invest in research and development while also developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting advanced manufacturing activities.

Indonesia made it difficult for foreigners to invest. Only recently foreigners can buy properties there I think. And many companies with local JV eventually get screwed by their partners. Just like in India. Go to court also no use as judges will side with local parties.
Muuds are only good in this (see below) and can't even operate simple machinery properly, how to run advanced chipmaking facilities?
They should recognize their own limitations and go and do simple stuffs like subsistence farming or continue to produce Kopi Luwak which is like their gold mine, then their whole society will be much happier. Why bother to try to play catch up with the rest of the modern world and being greedy and self-pwn in the process?
