Indian national claims trial to drug trafficking
KUANTAN: An Indian national claimed trial at the magistrate's court here yesterday to a charge of trafficking in 4.9kg of methamphetamines at the Sultan Ahmad Shah airport here on Dec 26.
Abdulmunab Abdulkareem, 38, allegedly committed the offence at the entrance of the arrival hall at 8.10am.
Magistrate Rini Tiany Mohd Ali set Feb 1 for mention.
Abdulmunab was unrepresented while deputy public prosecutor Naziah Mokhtar was prosecuting.
Meanwhile, at the Sessions Court here, a consulting engineer from a private company was sentenced to a day's jail and fined RM10,000 after he pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe from a garbage disposal contractor.
Khusairi Namrun, 30, had accepted RM750 from the contractor as an inducement to not to inspect the construction of the leachate treatment facility at Padang Sertik landfill in Bentong last year.
He committed the offence at the facility at 2.48pm on Oct 16. Khusairi settled the fine later in the afternoon.
