ABANDONED by his family, a mentally disabled teenage boy ended up living with an odd-job worker.
The man, Amayapan Kodanpany, now 59, is now on trial for three charges of sexually abusing the boy, on the first day he moved in.
He allegedly sodomised the boy, then 14 years old, twice and made the teenager perform oral sex on him on March 14, 2007.
The trial, scheduled for nine days, began in the High Court on Monday.
The court heard that the boy, who is now 17 years old, has an IQ of 52. The IQ of an average person is between 90 and 110.
Psychiatrist Cai Yiming, who assessed the boy, told the court that the teenager was rejected by his family and survived on his own, sleeping at void decks.
He eventually moved in with Amayapan, who is not related to him in any way, and stayed at his flat from March to August 2007.
On Oct 4, the boy called the police and told them he was molested. Police met the teenager at the void deck of the block and arrested Kodanpany.
