Indian national FT Crash leaves 1 dead, 2 hurt

The accident left Mr Harinder, a 26-year-old security officer, who was
due to be married next month, dead. His two other friends -
Mr Haji Maideen Shaik Dawood, 35, and Mr Gurdial Singh, 25 -
are now in the surgical intensive care unit at the National University Hospital.

HE HAD borrowed the Nissan Cefiro and was supposed to be the designated driver for a
night of revelry with his friends. But when Mr Harinder Singh got drunk, his friend got
behind the wheel - to disastrous consequences. The driver ended up crashing the
black Cefiro into a tree after mounting a kerb at Yung Sheng road shortly after 10pm on Sunday.
The accident left Mr Harinder, a 26-year-old security officer, who was due to be
married next month, dead. His two other friends - Mr Haji Maideen Shaik Dawood, 35,
and Mr Gurdial Singh, 25 - are now in the surgical intensive care unit at the
National University Hospital. They are both Indian nationals.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, abandoned his friends and fled the scene.
He later returned and tried to merge into the crowd who had gathered at the scene,
but was arrested by the police when they spotted blood on him. The Straits Times
understands that he was driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol
and is now helping police in investigations.
