Flight delay - kept in the dark for 8 hours

I AM a frequent traveller of Tiger Airways, and my journey with the airline last Thursday was an unforgettable one.
We had to wait for eight hours at the airport without knowing the reasons for the delay. There were no announcements, only the frequent changes in departure times reflected on the display board.
Once we were on board, one of the passengers with a child was asking for some milk, but none was available. The child had to starve throughout the journey.
The airline does have the contact numbers of passengers. I wish they would send an SMS when there is a delay so that passengers are prepared.
They should improve their customer relations procedures and make sure everyone is taken care of, even though it is a budget airline.
