STOMPer Stephen was appalled by the behaviour of this couple, who did not give up the priority seat to an elderly woman, on board a MRT train.

This STOMPer says:

"This poor old lady was left standing, while these two youngsters fooled around in the "Priority Seat". What a shame!

"I took the train from Tampines to City Hall (where they also alighted). The guy also threw a tissue paper onto the floor without even thinking twice."

(1) will the A&E department waive their ambulance ($150) and consultation ($75) charges?

(2) will the police say it is a criminal case and praise Stephen or will the police say it is a civil case - meaning it is your problem not mine

That mentality is the reason why we keep seeing the same complaints over and over again. What has been done about it? Are we to keep on relying on the authorities to do something for us, or do we owe it to ourselves to change for the better? Do we just keep on taking videos and photos for others to admire for its artistic values?

Does requesting someone give up their seats for someone else who need it more than them constitute just an act of chivalry or is it much more than that?

Show case Singapore life and win a merit for poignancy? You must be kidding. Sorry, I do not agree with the kind of values you have defended.

Just wondering what would u do if u happen to witness such scene especially if they were your F/T makals.

Whether they are Indian F/T or Indian locals or half-Indians or look only like Indians or you assume they are Indians are something only you will know.

However some are not referring to that. Rather it is about the loss of morals or civility and the actions that are needed to correct it. That is one argument.

Another argument is the dig on F/Ts.

Another argument is the moral superiority that you are the one who did not jump to conclusions.

An as-yet unsurfaced argument is that the lady could have declined the seat and the couple thus go back to their cuddling.

Whatever it is, it is just thoughts. It is also Sunday night. Gotta prepare for Monday.

Don't think I or anyone else needs to lead the way. We do it because we care about our own society and I am sure there is a small but silent group of people out there who does likewise.

Surely, if your thoughts are in agreement, your major point in your original post encouraging the majority to continue to take photos and just be a passive observer, or suffer the pain of being beaten up, is not in sync.

Incidentally just the other day I did witness a bangladeshi worker offering a seat to a Sillyporean Chinese pregnant woman. This chap may not be talented. But at least he has the moral conscience to offer that kind gesture.
