</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>
<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I WOULD like to bring to the notice of all credit cardholders (especially those with American Express cards) something no one would have imagined.
American Express Singapore offers lucrative membership rewards that attract a lot of customers. Later, points can be redeemed online against items available in the redemption catalogue.
I expected that as a customer, I would save some money on the market price of the redemption item with the points earned on my credit card. But surprisingly, this was not the case.
Luckily, before I redeemed my points for an Apple 160GB TV available in the American Express catalogue, I checked out the product on the Apple Singapore website.
I was shocked to see that American Express is asking me to redeem 18,200 points, plus pay another $450, for the item when Apple is selling it for only $370. Which means I redeem my points and pay more than the market price.
I reported this to American Express a week ago, but it has not updated its catalogue.
