An 18-year-old British girl, working with an NGO here, was allegedly raped by a taxi owner and his friend after she hired a cab on the outskirts of the town in Kangra district.
The incident occurred last night when the girl took a taxi to return home after her day's work near Palampur, around 140 kms from state capital Shimla, Kangra Superintendent of Police Atul Fulzale told reporters on Friday.
Police arrested Rakesh Kumar, 28, owner of the taxi, and his friend Sunil (26) on rape charges.
According to an FIR filed today, the youths first molested her in the moving vehicle and after taking the cab to a secluded area, they dragged her out and raped her repeatedly.
The SP said that the girl has been admitted to a civil hospital where she underwent a medical examination. The British Embassy has been informed of the incident, he said.
