SEREMBAN: A senior Immigration officer pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three charges of soliciting and accepting RM66,950 from a ferry operator to allow Indonesians without valid travel documents to enter the country. Mohd Yusof Bahari, 54, who was head of operations at the Port Dickson jetty, allegedly committed the offences between July 20 and Sept 29 this year at separate locations in the beach resort town. Sessions court Judge Sabariah Atan allowed the accused to be released on a RM24,000 bail. Mohd Yusof was charged under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009. If convicted, he can be jailed up 20 years, fined five times the amount of the bribe or RM10,000 whichever is higher.
