Immigration Department cleans up
KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has recently come up with a renewed initiative to curb corruption within its operational function especially at all entry and exit points in the country. The department has formulated and placed strong emphasis on job rotation of its officers to plug opportunities for corrupt practices and abuse of power especially in places that are considered “hotspots” and prone to corruption.
This is to prevent the recurrence of immigration officers allegedly receiving payment to facilitate the entry of foreign citizens into the country through certain entry points. There will be more initiatives formulated and undertaken in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in due time as part of the long-term plan to stem graft in the department.
