Listening to WP and others in their broadcast, the argument can be summarised thus:
A is not good, then B must be good....
They never tell why B must be good! So if PAP cannot bring down cost of living then WP can bring it down. How? They never tell!
hahaha....my little bird knows how to bring down costs of living....
1. reduce/waive gst on essential food and medical costs
2. reduce utilities costs
3. reduce transport costs
4. reduce education costs
5. reduce public housing costs
Above are basics and we are not even talking about COE and other luxury items.
Next question is where to find the money:
1. Reduce wastage......the govt has so much idle assets that it takes 50 man year to compile!
2. Reduce overheads......high pay and redundant appointments everywhere,
simple example in schools P, VP1, VP2, VP3, Ops M, Admin M, Mentor teacher, senior teacher, HOD..
3. Back to basics......when you visit the restructured hospitals, they are extravagantly landscaped and furnished.
You see there is plenty of scope to reduce govt expenditure besides the favourite whipping boys....SAF.
From the simplified illustration, you can get an idea of the direction to tackle to tackle costs of govt and hence
costs of living.
If the opp makes an in GE 2011, there will be hope for lower costs of living which actually can be done if the
govt has a will or is compelled to act on it.
