PETALING JAYA: The police here have arrested seven suspected rapists after a victim reported that she had been gang raped by the men, including a suspect she had befriended via WhatsApp.
"The 19-year-old victim had gotten to know one of the suspects via WhatsApp and they met up twice, in March and in June.
"On Aug 10, the suspect asked the victim to follow him home to help tend his wounds after he was injured during an accident. However, once his wounds were cleaned, she was told to enter a room where she was then held and gagged.
"The alleged rapists then raped her in turns," said Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal in a statement Friday (Aug 14).
A report was made on Aug 11, and investigations led to the arrest of seven men aged between 19 and 24 at a house in Sungai Way on Aug 13.
"Two of the suspects are twins and they admitted to have been involved in the incident. Checks showed that three of the seven suspects had previous police records for drug offences. All have been remanded for five days," he added.
