DR VINCENT WIJEYSINGHA: 'I recently took an early morning budget flight to south India from Changi Airport. There were many migrant workers returning home. While clearing security, I observed how rude the security officers were to passengers who did not know how to observe the X-ray machine protocol. Migrant workers are guests too and we should treat them with courtesy. Many migrant workers come from rural parts of neighbouring countries and may be unfamiliar with the complicated processes involved in international travel. I appeal to my fellow citizens to bear this in mind. The measure of a nation's sophistication and grace is how we treat the less significant members of our community.'
