It will be unprecedented. In a PAP GRC, other PAP MPs are supposed to be more than able to take over the deceased incumbent MP's duties to look after the well being of the ward.

I know it makes you wonder if a minority GRC MP were to die right after the successful completion of the GE and there is no need for a by election, according to PAP logic to replace the deceased, then why would you need a minority MP in the first place?

Coming back to Tanjong Pagar, if LKY were to depart to meet Gecko, guess who will be flown right back to contest in a by-election?

I guarantee even without gerrymandering, the candidate will win hands down just on sentimental votes alone!
