'Without a constant inflow of immigrants, we would have remained a fishing village, or at best a simple trading port. To avoid regressing to that state, we must continue to remain open to hard-working talent from around the world.'
I would like to ask the Minister: If we are committed to get good FTs into Singapore, are the FTs themselves committed to serve Singapore wholeheartedly? For example, are they willing to do NS or let their children do NS to protect Singapore? Or perhaps when they feel that they have made enough money, they will return back home or go somewhere else?
Getting immigrants into Singapore to beef up Singapore is like a man looking for a girl to get married and settle down. Both sides must show commitment to the relationship. If the man is committed but the girl is only interested in a short-term relationship, what is the use? Would the man want this kind of girl for marriage?

Exactly!! Ah Bengs are the first ones and usually have a lot to complain about and love to make lots of noise but absolutely no guts to write directly to the minister asking let alone demanding clarifications. They turn into absolute poodles in the presence of these ministers. Useless and hopeless the "silent majority". When will they every grow some brains and balls.

Vivian is absolutely correct and comfortable by ignoring these losers. Imagine Obama having to respond to every internet critic.

Ahh. What this kojak character completely ignored was Vivian's first sentence. "Without the constant inflow of immigrants...". Most of the Chinese in Singapore are desendents of immigrants who came to Singapore as coolies and laborers. If the bumis back then had then made all these Chinks "fuck back" to China what kind of a country would Singapore be today. Actually it would have been a lot better. :p

This is an idiotic question at best. Of course SG is committed to getting the best and committed talent into SG. If you were running a company would you settle for less than the best and committed available talent?

Singapore citizens including children of PRs have to serve mandatory NS. Or is this joker asking each and every FT that comes to SG to serve NS? Sinkees themeselves are emigrating in hordes; imagine Australia or US or UK asking these emigrants to serve in their military. How many of these Sinkees would then chose to emigrate??

The underlying sentiment here is that Sinkees are forced into NS. They don't like it but it beats incaceration. They have no say, no choice in the NS matter. But they turn around and make it sound like fucking loyalty to SG while marginalizing the Malays - the one ethnic group that shows loyality to SG. Fucking hypocrites.

Firstly the minister has no way of knowing the intentions of any individual. The only way to be absolutely certain is to imprision these FTs to life in Singapore. Can we then likewise prevent Sinkees from deserting this island??

Its funny he should use the analogy of a relationship and marriage between a man and woman. And this given the rising divorce rates. The procreation or lack off amongst the 75% ethnic Chinese is the major driving force to beef up the population with FTs. The Malays seem to be doing just fine. But the Chinese aren't even getting married with percentages of unmarried singles rising. Educated and sophisticated Chinese women by and large are chosing to remain single - not that i blame them.

The govt has tried all sorts of means and measures from SDU, baby bonuses, paid leave and what not; you name it. But the money minded race simply refuses to budge. As Loo Choon Yong admitted procreation is "not our forte". He's a Chinese MP and he should know his breed better.

So then what is the solution?
