This article put things into perpective.

Casinos have always been one machinery used by owners of "dirty" money to "cleanse" their money.

Also, the M0/M1/M2/M3 money supply has Brunei's money in it. What if in these times of crisis Brunei suddenly withdraws?

Any financial experts here can paint the picture if such a scenario happens?

Singapore may face U.S. challenge on bank secrecy laws

SINGAPORE, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Singapore may face political pressure from the United States over its role as a financial centre for rich foreigners, the country's prime minister said on Friday.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong told journalists at a lunch hosted by Singapore's Foreign Correspondents Association that U.S. pressure on some European countries to lighten banking secrecy laws and open their books to greater scrutiny may lead to more European money flowing into Singapore in the short term.

"But I expect Singapore to come under pressure too," he said in response to a question on whether pressure on countries like Switzerland and Liechtenstein will help Singapore.

Singapore's government has previously denied suggestions that the country is a tax haven. It has strict bank secrecy laws and has been promoting itself as a rival financial centre to Hong Kong to attract banks such as UBS (UBSN.VX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), Credit Suisse (CSGN.VX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Citigroup (C.N: Quote, Profile,

Research, Stock Buzz) to manage money for rich local and foreign clients. (Reporting by Neil Chatterjee and Kevin Lim; Writing by Jan Dahinten; Editing by Tomasz Janowski)

Ringit is a better currency. So is Baht, surprisingly. Leveraged economies will die when they deleverage. Go for currencies that are not heavily leveraged and not export dependent.

Move all your money to bangkok banks, you will be saved.

how about park $ into those countries that do more importing than exporting? EUR? HKD? GBP? AUD? DKK? SEK?

what is there to fear unless you have hundred of thousand or millions in your bank.

If the depression comes in the big way, all of us burn Singapore dollar in LKY's face. You would be happy to go jail. You get food at least which your hell Singapore dollar cannot buy. Since LKY lie so much, be wary that Singapore dollar has no value. Our Peesai military might is not worth the backing like USA.

WRONG ATTITUTE!

Every cent or dollar counts.

Even for topping up your EZ LINK card, its prudent to do so only $10 a time. Why? So you continue to earn interests in your bank accounts instead of giving the interests to GARMENT.

The amount you transfer for toppping up means IMMEDIATE money being taken out of your account to be given to garment.

If you top up $50 a time and take 2 weeks to use up the $50, you lose that interests while garment makes from your money.

WHY SO STUPID? They have not taken enough money from you?

Top up only minimum sum and top up only close to zero or minus.

THAT is why they are coming up with NEW EZ Link card that can be used in cars ERP UNIT. Why? For your covenient?

NO! It's for them to make more interests and money. Many car owners top up $100 each time on their cash card. Perhaps they use it in one week.

Still $100 multiply by 100,000 car owners is $10million. Now can you imagine the amount GARMENT holds free of charge each time you UN-NECESSARY over-top-up your MRT EZ link card?

Example even $30 top up multiply by 1,000,000 (one million) commuters is $30million dollars. Interests of this is not small ok.

THAT IS HOW THEY MAKE MORE MONEY FROM YOU.

If they have to issue a replacement it is obvious that some scholar didn't think through the full potential of the card system

A silly question, who will pay the extra charges for the replacement? :(

Go check the IMF website. Singapore $ is 100% backed which means the government can dictate what its value is without Mahathir's dirty tricks. Malaysia and Thailand currency are leveraged, not Singapores.

Why not refer to the BIS website and explain how come we have US800 billion or assets and loans?

I say, we have a different driver behind moniker cass888 now. Not the "dumb chao cheebye, fuck you" spewing one. That driver got retrenched? I may consider upgrading quality of writing against PAP scholar dogs who carry foreign degrees.

Sure, sure. I believe you, in hell. You and samuraisan are known for the vulgarities. Does not matter if it is not in hokkien but in English, cursing incestuous non-consensual sex. We know. Never liked Lamei and do not care about Chee. Issue is not with Chee. Our issue is with LKY and PAP.

You're really getting desperate when you cast false aspersions over people you cannot outargue.

I challenge you again, review everything I have ever written in Sammyboy Delphiforum and Sammyboy here and pull out any offending posts. The closest I came to vulgarities was over madmansg's treatment of Yen's tragedy.
