My friends from Church Of Our Savior told me, their church are getting lots of shit thrown at them in the past few days. Strangers can be seen in the congregation, many others video the sermons and took pictures. However, one good thing coming out from this Aware issue is that more people (strangers) have the chance to hear Lords Word! Amen!
Being a Church, COOS has every rights to declare their stand on Homosexual, ask every Church in Singapore, they will come up with their own limits and boundary on this issue.
I don't condemn Gays or Lesbians but I believe its a medical condition and they can be cured!
Here are verses from the Bible, why Christians have zero tolerance for homosexual activity.
1. Homosexual practice is clearly sin against God according to:
a) Leviticus 18:22 ¡ª "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Leviticus 20:13 ¡ª "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
b) Romans 1:26-27 ¡ª "¡ women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."
c) 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ¡ª "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
d) 1 Timothy 1:8-10 ¡ª "We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers (hate or hit), for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers ¡ª and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine"
2. God loves all sinners, straight or homosexual according to:
(a) John 3:16 ¡ª "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
(b) Romans 5:8 ¡ª "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
3. Change is possible
1 Corinthians 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. This Scripture follows the text which listed the types of sinners who will not inherit the kingdom of God. This Word of God, written almost 2000 years ago, already spoke of people who were changed. As such we do not believe that homosexuals are "born that way", or "genetically destined". The state of the art studies, many of which are non-religious (visit www.narth.com) both debunk the "nature" argument as well as show the weight of developmental factors in the formation of homosexuality.
It's clear from the Bible, God wants Christians to love everyone, including homosexuals but not to condone sin, including homosexual practices. God loves us but detests our sins.
Therefore any form of homophobic expression is wrong and is a sin against God. It is evil for anyone, most of all Christians, to verbally or physically torment or injure homosexuals. God's heart is always to love the sinner even though He is against the sin. On the other hand, understanding the temptations and tendencies of practicing homosexuals, Christians must also exercise the responsibility of protecting the young, vulnerable and innocent.
Homosexual practice is contrary to God's Word. So we stand against that and the active and aggressive promotion of such behavior.
