"This is the upsized fries I got from rude restaurant manager"

paid_extra_not_for_upsized_fries-thumbnail.jpg

STOMPer ben was not happy when his friends and him visited McDonalds last night (Oct 19). They had ordered upsized fries, but was served with a half full packet, and by a floor manager with horrible service attitude.

Says this STOMPer:

" We visited the outlet on Oct 19 at 12.12am

"The first picture shows the original upsized fries served by the manager Mr Alan.

"The second picture shows the new upsized fries we got after complaining, served by Mr Alan again.

"Finally, the third picture shows the floor manager Mr Alan Chong from Lucky Chinatown Mcdonalds.

"His rude remarks when we first complained were: 'under-packed is it? Wait three mins, send you later'.

"After he delivered the new pack of upsized fries, he said in a sarcastic tone, 'it's normally like this for upsized, no fully packed one!' and walked off.

"Back at the counter, the crew and manager were laughing loudly.

"Is that the way Macdonalds trained their staff to treat their customers?

"Please investigate this matter seriously.

"Lastly, please do not mislead customers to pay extra for an upsized meal if you are not willing to deliver. Such practice is cheating!"

McDonald's upsized fries don't look upsized at all

Upsized fries (above, right) Ben got from a restaurant manager. The left shows a fully-filled container of fries of McDonald's.

Singapore, October 19, 2009 - Saw the documentary Super Size Me in which the director and star got bigger and bigger when he upsized his McDonald's meals over some months?

A reader 'Ben' upsized his fries too but it was unlikely he got heftier. On October 19, he was surprised to see it downsized instead, to half-full at McDonald's outlet in Lucky Chinatown.

He had ordered upsized fries, but was given a packet that was half-filled by a floor manager.

He complained to the manager Alan Chong, who had served him earlier, that it was too little and told him to top up. But despite the manager adding 'more' fries, it still looked "under-packed".

'Ben', who wrote to Stomp, also complained about Mr Chong's attitude.
He said: "His rude remarks when we first complained were: 'under-packed is it? Wait three minutes, send you later.

"After he delivered the new pack of upsized fries, he said in a sarcastic tone, 'it's normally like this for upsized, no fully packed one!' and walked off."

Back at the counter, "the crew and manager were laughing loudly", added Ben.

He asked: "Is that the way Macdonalds trained their staff to treat their customers? Please investigate this matter seriously."
His parting shot to McDonald's: "Lastly, please do not mislead customers to pay extra for an upsized meal if you are not willing to deliver. Such practice is cheating!"
At least five other readers have commented in SoShiok.com's forum today about similar encounters.

We hope to hear McDonald's side of their story. Maybe they had used a bigger-sized container for Ben's order?

At Bali's Denpasar airport, a Mac's McChicken meal costs close to 8 Sing dollars, after conversion.

Speaking of hyperinflation, everything is going up, except our wages.

In Indonesia the MacD experience is inferior. Maybe its because of the costs the franciser has to pay MacD?

I'd avoid MacD in Spore, Indonesia & Malaysia. The MacD is better in LOS. In Malaysia KFC is better.

hah ? .... you mean mac eatable? ... try carl junior n u never look back !!:o

The portions at Carl Jr is similar to what you get in the US. Its definitely unhealthy

If you are ever in the US the nice places to get burgers are those non-chain stores. These places are family owned.

In fact, ben should thank the manager for showing concerns about his weight, eating too much oily french fries is bad for health.
