He is correct, there is nothing to worry because the regime using gerrymandering is able to scatter opposition supporters into non-descript wards. Gerrymandering was achieved using two main tactics.

The unique serial marking is able to give hints to the regime about the voting patterns within a precinct level. This enables them to redraw ward boundaries to their favour.

The second tactic is the appointment of the electoral committee who is answerable to the paramount leader. It means the entire committee is subjected to influence and will assist in gerrymandering by giving official approval to redraw precinct boundaries. This is the main reason for the regime's stranglehold on 98% of parliamentary seats despite 66% approval ratings.

The GRC scam is a perversion of procedural elections. Left unchecked, it will become a patronage system where faction leaders will pack parliament with their lackeys. Lackeys, who relied on patronage are unlikely to support peasants if their patrons decide to screw them for political and monetary gains.

Worry not. Gerrymandering works best when you do not have almost every ward contested. If the number of people who vote against you is more than 66 percent, you have a problem even with gerrymandering. Also, with so many walkovers over the years, they are unable to gather accurate statistics who actually voted against them and thus the complacency. New citizens have everything as much at stake as old citizens. I believe they have also been badly affected by PAP policies, so as stakeholders, do not bet on it that they will vote PAP. What remains to be seen is what cheat tactics may be deployed.
