YP Chairman Teo Ser Luck
Elected to office in 2006 after 14 years of management experience in the private sector, Ser Luck is a Member of Parliament for Pasir-Ris-Punggol Group Representative Constituency and was appointed to the political office position of Parliamentary Secretary immediately.
Ser Luck was appointed Chairman of the Young PAP in 2008. He is currently the Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Transport and will concurrently be appointed the Mayor of the Northeast District Community Development Council on 31 May 2009. Ser Luck is also Chairman of the National Youth Council and adviser to the Asian Youth Games 2009 and Youth Olympic Games 2010.
Currently 40 years, Ser Luck is married with two children and is an Accountancy graduate from the the Nanyang Business School of Nanyang Technological University. Besides being actively involved in community service, Ser Luck takes pleasure in reading and enjoys participating in various sports and Ironman Triathlons.
WPYW President Lee Li Lian 李丽连, 33
Lilian is currently a Trainer with a private institution. She has been actively involved in both industrial and financial sales for the past 6 years. She graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1999 where she majored in Business Studies and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree with Curtin University of Technology in Australia majoring in Sales & Marketing. From her years of sales experience, she had gained good communication, interpersonal and persuasive skills.She was both Polling and Counting Agent for the party during GE 2006, subsequently she joined as a member in June that year. In August 2006, was elected into the WPYW as an Executive Council.
In her first 25 years, she was staying in the Marine Parade GRC, and having shifted to the Ang Mo Kio GRC 3 years ago, she finally got a chance to cast her first vote. She helped out as a volunteer during the General Elections 2006. During the process of contributing her service, she realized the lack of information and wrong perception the public have with regards to the opposition party in Singapore. She believes that these need to be corrected and she also wants to create awareness and generate greater political interest among the women in Singapore.
Lilian recognizes that women are receiving higher education and are playing more vital role in the country’s economic growth. Therefore, their voices, concerns and ideas should be heard and recognized. Therefore, she aims to encourage more women to come forward. The message that she wants to bring across to everyone is: “Until you spread your wings, you’ll have no idea how far you can fly.”
Lilian enjoys singing and making DIY fashion accessories in her past time. She is also a faithful supporter of the ‘REDS’, Liverpool Football club, since the early 90s.
SPP Head of the Youth Wing Jimmy Lee
Jimmy Lee, 36, was a former government scholar and senior civil servant at the Ministry of Defence and the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA). He held the positions of Project Manager, Business Analyst and Assistant Chief Information Officer.
He currently runs his own business management consulting firm, serving clients in the private and public sectors in the areas of business strategy. He is also a member of his church council.
Jimmy obtained his BSc, MEng and MBA from Cornell University, USA. He is single and lives in a 3-room HDB flat in Ang Mo Kio with his parents. He speaks English, Mandarin and Hokkien.
NSP Youth Guild Nicole Seah
Seah Xue Ling, Nicole Rebecca is a 24-year-old executive with multinational advertising agency Starcom Mediavest Group. She graduated with an honours degree from the National University of Singapore, under the University Scholars’ Programme. Prior to that, she spent most of her education within the Marine Parade precinct, having graduated from Victoria Junior College, Tanjong Katong Secondary School and CHIJ Katong.
One key issue pertinent to Nicole’s campaign is the rising cost of living that is straining the middle and lower classes. In her free time, Nicole practices yoga, reads extensively and enjoys good music.
Young Democrats Jarrod Luo
Jarrod Luo, is a young entrepreneur, having set up his own F&B start-up, after a year gaining experience in the industry. He graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Biomedical Science and Microbiology, from the University of Queensland, Australia.
Earlier, he obtained a Diploma in Biotechnology from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2004 and served his National Service obligations as a Military Policeman. During his poly years, he completed an intermediate course in Japanese.
He joined the Singapore Democratic Party in 2008. It is the party whose values he considers to be his own. Being among the first parties to have an organized youth wing, he was keen to help in building up the political capacity of our younger citizens. He feels passionately that politics is about serving the people.
He was elected Secretary of the Young Democrats in 2008 and has represented them in numerous overseas conferences, the most recent of which was organised by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France.
Jarrod is multilingual in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hokkien, and speaks a smattering of Malay. He is a keen chef and counts swimming and reading among his hobbies.
The Young Reformers co–heads Lim Zi Rui and Gerald Yong
Lim Zi Rui, 24, is a final year undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University and the Co-Head of Reform Party Youth Wing. Prior to college he studied at Dunearn Secondary and National Junior College, where he excelled in athletics. He was the President of NTU Runners’ Club.
Zi Rui is an officer in the Singapore Armed Forces and received the honour as the Best Physical Trainee in OCS. He was part of the volunteer EXCO for various mega sporting events in Singapore.
Zi Rui is a believer of learning and mentoring others. He wants to help improve life of Singaporeans and believe that Singaporeans should come first in every aspect in Singapore.
Gerald Yong, 25, is married and a father of one. He is a final year undergraduate with The London School of Economics and Political Science, studying for a Bachelor of Science in Banking & Finance. He is currently employed full-time as a Financial Planning Executive, at a leading firm of insurers in Singapore.
Gerald is a recipient of SAF Best Soldier Award and graduated from NS with an Outstanding grade for the Certificate of Service.
Lack of jobs, university places, high medical costs, public transport costs are some of many issues he is concerned about.
