The reason is very simple. The money used can be better deploy for helping the poor. I can't help but feel sorry for those destitute and beggers / handicapped tissue sellers. What is the point of prostituting for global glory when the state turn its head away from those who are seriously in need of help.

and the number of viewership, and sponsorship deals inked during the event.

say if the big names companies such as Nike, Puma start to air adverts based on those people on YOG. that's one indicator.

on top of the usual ads via those credit cards, banks etc.

end of the day, it must be a revenue generating event (for those companies involved).

Not only is Singapore too small to host this kind of nonsense. Singapore does not have the professional experience to manage or operate an event of such magnitude. SSC has such a big head and aspiration while ground level are in shambles with brainwashing attempt to get volunteers to assist.

In true sportsmanship, as an athelete or an official or as an spectator many would want to be involved in their respective sports. In Singapore, its the complete opposite.

Comparatively to other countries in terms of sports management. I can't help but feel ashame at YOG's mickey mouse attempt to copy & cook up ideas here and there to make it feel like an Homlypic experience for the young. It is an amateurish attempt to YOG successful.

They just want to see any and everything that PAP has its name on it fail just so that the ruling party can't brag about it. Nevermind that in some cases, if the thing fails it might mean thousands of jobs will be loss. It's OK as a long as the ruling party looks bad
