The pay is too low so I am not interested. Besides I don't meet one of the requirements - ability to operate in both Chinese and English - but this job opening with Amnesty International may be of interest to some Sinkies and yes the ball-less need not apply:

Deputy Regional Director - Campaigns (0566)
Closing Date:16 March 2014
Directorate:Campaigns and Communications
Location:Hong Kong
Type:Permanent
Working Hours:35
Salary:HKD819,619

The mobile revolution. Geopolitical power shifts. A radically altered global economy. As the world changes, so does the way people campaign for human rights. To remain effective, Amnesty International (AI) needs to respond and adapt. That’s why we’re expanding our office in Hong Kong. And why we need your leadership in campaigning.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Whether they’re addressing restrictions on freedom of expression or the death penalty, our campaigns make a difference. You’ll deliver powerful global, national and regional campaigns that inspire people to act. Our campaigning staff will look to you for innovative strategies and solid support, both of which will stem from your strong communication across the organization and effective links with Amnesty International’s research teams, activists and the media to build public engagement. You’ll explore new tactics and techniques, capitalise on advocacy and movement-building specialists, and identify and foster opportunities for partnership and co-operation. At the same time, as one of two Deputy Directors, you’ll work closely with the Regional Director to manage the regional operation, control budgets and motivate staff. Indeed, you’ll be integral to the corporate management of the International Secretariat, deputising for the Regional Director whenever necessary.

ABOUT YOU:
Overseeing the planning and delivery of all the East Asia office’s campaign projects calls for extensive experience of leading campaigns at a national and international level. You’ll be well-versed in the campaign lifecycle – from identifying issues to undertaking impact assessment – all using sound political judgement. What’s more, you’ll have extensive lived and working experience in the East Asia region as well as regional and global human rights issues and trends. The proven ability to get the best out of people is vital too, whether that’s through coaching, mentoring, capacity building or training. Having worked in a key leadership role in a complex organization, you’ll have no problem managing cross-functional, multi-cultural teams; and you’ll certainly know how to adjust priorities, hit deadlines and adapt to fast-changing political situations. You will have excellent external representational skills and will be able to operate in both Chinese and English, with a working level of written and spoken fluency in both languages. Above all, you’ll have the collaborative and creative approach needed to generate campaigns that resonate and get results.

ABOUT US:
Our aim is simple: for every person to enjoy all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. Independent, impartial, international and influential, we campaign to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected for everyone, everywhere.
