what does 1/2 " and 3/4" valve size mean?
is it measuring diameter in mm or inch or?

1/2" and 3/4" are sizes in inches. For pipes it will be the outer diameter measurement (O.D.) whereas if referring to tubes it will be the internal diameter (I.D.)

What's the difference between a pipe and a tube?

Cheers!

(Facepalm)I am really out of touch.:(

Disregard what I wrote as it is the opposite, i.e., pipes are measured and sized according to their internal diameter and tubes are measured according to their outer diameter.

As for their differences they are manufactured to different specifications.

1/2" is abt 12mm and 3/4" is abt 18mm. Valves got few types, commonly used is ball valves, gate valves and globe valves. If what you are looking at is those that are used domestically, a ball valve will do, its easier to use. Pipes and tubing can say they are same, can also same time say not the same, some people call hoses as tubings also.

So if you can be alittle more specific, like where and what purpose usage, maybe i can help you abit.
