OPINION
With the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) only two months away, the PAP is trying desperately hard to promote the event among Singaporeans to ensure that it does not become an embarrassing flop.
Acccording to feedback garnered from readers, the Ministry of Education has purchased some YOG tickets and primary and secondary school students are strongly “encouraged” to attend the event.
To save your child the agony of being “used” for the purpose of PAP propaganda, one reader Russell Teo has kindly written down a list of excuses for you to use:
- need to take care of grandparents everyday
- need to collect unsold food for delivery to old folks home everyday
- need to clean old folks home at weekends… See More
- need to take care of injured relative
- need to take care of disabled relative
- need to take care of pets (even stray cat at e void deck counts)
- need to go tuition to score better grade
- need to go for French language class
- need to help out at relative’s/parents’ business (not every child is lucky and do not need to help out)
- need to work to earn a living for family
- piano lessons
- fencing classes
- ping pong session (aspiring to be a world champ)
- preparing for Marathon/ Biathlon/ Triathlon (teacher sure scared he/she may die one)
- ballet (doesn’t work if he is not a gay)
- gym body building to lose weight (always work if ur children is obese)
- visiting relatives during YOG in US/Aus/NZ/Msia
- sudden injuries/sickness/death in family (use sparingly & carefully)
- take MC (make sure it’s not from Msia)
Remember, no matter how “compulsory” they make it out to be, your child has the RIGHT not to support the YOG and become a digit to fill up the empty seats for the PAP.
